Snow is still a four-letter-word. . .

Heh. . . snow. . .

Not much at the moment. However, my secret contact in the more western part of Virginia (my brother) has reported that it's already coming down heavier there than the weatherman's predictions. To this I say whoop-de-fuckin'-doo.

Don't get me wrong, snow is beautiful. There's nothing like waking up in the morning to see your front yard transformed into a fantastic white ocean, with only white mountains of cars, mailboxes, and buried trees sticking out to disrupt it. Walking around in a snowfall is also usually equally enjoyable, and especially romantic if the right circumstances arise.

However, my problems with snow unfortunately outclass my enjoyment with it.

1) I realize now that half of my like for snow comes from my inborn American desire to get everything I want without having to lift a finger. In this case, snow meant a free day away from school. One more day to finish my homework and projects. Yeah right. . . one more day to procrastinate. But nowadays I actually don't want this day off. No work = no money, and we all know what's equivalent to no money.

Also, if the site of fresh-fallen snow is amazing, the same spot a mere twelve hours later is equally off-putting. Mounds of dirty snow piled up around the streets, the beautiful ocean now permanantly rippled with footprints. . . sure the snow-angels and snowmen are wonderful tributes to innocence, but damn we just don't see enough of them anymore. And have you ever gone to a parking lot the day after a snowfall? Those mountains of black ice/snow stir something ugly and hairy within me.

On an even more selfish point, I got a new coat last night. Yes, I am occasionally very satisfied by material goods, and this, a Christmas present from my mother given early because she decided I needed it now, is a long leather coat that I've wanted since I first saw one (which has to be at least ten years ago). It's absolutely fantastic and gives me a thrilling sense of. . . well, I'l admit it, coolness. . . every time I put it on. I haven't had a chance to wear it outside yet, but I don't know if the leather was properly treated and thus don't know if it can handle getting wet. So, dammit, snow! You're messin' up my mojo!

Yeah, I'm actually in a fairly good mood today. Still very tired. The doubles continue today, but you can feel free to leave me little messages. When I eventually get them, I will smile. And we all know how much a smile is worth these days. . .
