Hindsight
First, go here. Listen. Isn't that pretty? No, I didn't write it. JDavyd did, because he's cool like that. He asked me to write some lyrics, and this is what I managed to come up with. I'm sleep-depped at the moment, so we'll see what I think about them in the morning. Regardless, this is the first "completed" compilation between my brother and myself in quite sometime. . . When the dawn first broke and the rays filled up our eyes we'd built ourselves a paradise of endless scope and size Yet the untamed beast of freedom ravaged as much as our chains and opinions became prison cells before we caught the reigns Clustering our madness in one common place to hide we should've known we'd force our different worlds to violently collide We should've known to face a simple fact before doors swung open We didn't know ourselves enough to let anybody else in Keeping one's mouth closed when there's nothing left to say can often be the one path from which most of us will stray And the wall we've built is almost as destructive as our pride for no one finds much protection when we're all on the same side Clustering our madness in one common place to hide we should've known we'd force our different worlds to violently collide We should've known to face a simple fact before doors swung open We didn't know ourselves enough to let anybody else in We didn't know We should've known Once we flew our flags Wars declared against the predefined Yet now the old constraints get spewed right back in kind Hide behind the lies Claim that we have all been redesigned with one grand purpose What common goal do you find uniting all the factions still trying hard to boast they're intertwined yet whispering in corners of how the rest are blind? Drop your oral torches meant to sweep through and destroy the unaligned You might just choke to death our one last open mind With fresh-made mistakes coloring ideas portrayed I should've known I'd get too relaxed in the role you wanted played You should've known when to give up on life as a game you could win We should've known so much more of ourselves before we said "Come in" Still we let it begin Clustering our madness in one common place to hide we should've known we'd force our different worlds to violently collide We should've known to face a simple fact before doors swung open We didn't know ourselves enough to let anybody else in We didn't know We should've known We didn't know We should've known
